The School of Theater and Dance at Southern Illinois University Carbondale combines rigorous academic study with extensive production experience in a collaborative and creative environment. Students work alongside accomplished faculty artists, scholars, and industry professionals while participating in a vibrant season of theatrical and dance productions.
Located in the Communications Building at the heart of SIU's campus, the School offers the resources of a comprehensive research university together with the hands-on opportunities of an active producing organization. Through classroom learning, performance, design, technology, scholarship, and creative practice, students develop the knowledge, skills, and experience needed for careers in the performing arts and related fields.
The School offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs that prepare students to become artists, educators, scholars, and leaders in the performing arts.
